Duran Duran's accomplishments in pop music

-August 10th is DURAN DURAN Appreciation Day.

2003 saw DURAN DURAN awarded a "Lifetime Achievment Award" from Q Magazine.

In October of 2004, 25 years after DURAN DURAN's incarnation, their 11th studio album 'Astronaut' entered the UK Billboard charts at #4!


-In the early '80's,
DURAN DURAN's dive head first into extended dance versions of their songs, (usually titled 'Night Version') is the originator of todays hugely successful remix single market.
"GIRLS ON FILM" is the first extended club song with an extended video version as well.

-In 1983,
Duran Duran's song 'Is There Something I Should Know?' was the 4th single ever to enter the UK charts at No. 1.
- DURAN's video for "SOMEONE ELSE NOT ME" was the first video to be broadcast using FLASH animation technology.


-In 1984,
Duran Duran were the first band to tour with new large screen format technology for the Arena shows.

-In 1997,
Duran Duran's song 'Electric Barbarella', was the first single available for purchase and download on the internet by a major label act.

-Duran Duran's POP TRASH tour was the first in the world to implement the use of a 3D animation program called AUGMENTED REALITY, which was used to create live animation on stage.


- 'A View To A Kill' was the first and only James Bond theme song to ever reach Number 1 on the charts. Rumour has it Duran Duran will score the next James Bond theme song as well, following Madonna's 'Die Another Day'.
- In 2003, Duran Duran received their MTV Lifetime Achievement Award.


- In 1993,
DURAN DURAN
received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in front of the Capitol Records Building (Hollywood and Vine, y'all).
In 2004,
Duran Duran
received a BRIT AWARD for "Outstanding Contribution to Music".
